Rīgas Saksofonu Kvartets

Baiba Tilhena studied bachelor and masters degree in saxophone teaching with professor Artis Sīmanis at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA). She began playing saxophone relatively late in her life – at the age of fifteen, attending lessons of Andrejs Cepītis at Madona Music School. Now she has improved her professional skills in masterclasses with such exceptional saxophone players as Joonatan Rautiola (Finland), Lars Mlekush (Austria/Switzerland), Claus Olesen (Denmark), Rolf-Erik Nystrom (Norway), Philippe Geiss (France), Klaus Gesing (Italy), Marcus Weiss (Switzerland) etc.

Baiba is the member of Riga Saxophone Quartet since 2013. She has been member of Jelgava bigband 2013-2021. She has also steadily honed her professional skills through participation in different projects and performed with Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Riga, Liepāja Simphony Orchestra, State Choir Latvia and Latvian Radio Choir. At the genre of chamber music Baiba actively performs together with organist Larisa Carjkova since 2016.

In parallel with music Baiba has worked as a saxophone teacher. At the masters study process Baiba is researching the field of music education in Latvia, specifically analyzing the working process with children who has disturbance of attention. She is also the PR and marketing manager at the Orchestra RIGA.
